Everything you hear at a Skyrocket show is performed live. We do the songs exactly the way we all remember them when they were popular hits — but we make the songs our own.
Choosing songs for Skyrocket’s repertoire is an organic process, and there aren’t many rules. Band members bring an idea to rehearsal. If the song can be replicated with the instruments and voices available, it’ll make it to the test-market phase. At that point it’s up to the audience. If the song doesn’t knock their socks off, we’ll drop it and move on.

Darin, the band’s drummer and music director, is the secret weapon behind the accuracy of the songs. He helps get them precise during rehearsals. We switch around on instruments so that everyone gets a chance to be the lead singer!

For each show, Darin writes out a set list. Darin and Benjamin will call audibles if they sense the need, or an opportunity to do something cool. Sometimes, we just start making something up onstage. After years of playing together, we all know what to do when this happens — hang on.
